Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a drone agreement. The content of the agreement is not public, but Michal said it will help Estonian companies start producing drones.
Michal explained that the agreement gives Estonian companies access to Ukrainian knowledge. Ukraine's knowledge about drones is the best in the world. Due to the war, it is developing rapidly. Estonian companies can now produce drones in Estonia. Ukraine makes such agreements only with close countries.
The agreement allows Estonia to purchase drones from Ukrainian companies in the future. Michal said that specific decisions will be made later. The financial part is not yet final.
Latvia signed a similar agreement already in June. Zelensky also visited Tallinn at that time, but did not sign an agreement with Estonia. Michal said that Estonia took time to discuss technical issues.
Michal mentioned that the agreement could bring the latest drone technologies to Estonia. Estonian companies may start producing drones together with Ukrainians. Access to Ukrainian knowledge and experience is important.
After signing the agreement, Michal and Zelensky discussed supporting Ukraine. They talked about how to help Ukraine in the war. Future cooperation was also discussed, such as an event in Estonia in 2027.
Zelensky previously said that nearly 20 countries want to sign drone agreements.
