Estonia's major theaters received a lot of money from the state and local governments last year. In total, they were given nearly 57.44 million euros. This is 6.6 million euros more than in 2023.
State-affiliated theaters, Tallinn City Theater and the National Opera Estonia, received 40.11 million euros from the state budget. The National Opera Estonia received a total of 12.16 million euros from the state and local governments. The majority of this amount, 12.03 million euros, came from the state budget. Estonia earned 3.48 million euros in ticket revenue and 1.54 million euros from its cafe operations.
The Estonian Drama Theater received 3.04 million euros from the state budget and 99,000 euros from the local government. The Drama Theater's ticket revenue was over 3 million euros.
The Estonian Youth Theater received 3.546 million euros from the state budget. The Youth Theater's ticket revenue was 842,175 euros. Over 162,000 euros were earned from the cafe.
Tallinn City Theater received 918,000 euros from the state budget. In addition, Tallinn allocated nearly 2.46 million euros for the theater. The City Theater's ticket revenue was 1.84 million euros.
Endla Theater received 3.07 million euros from the state budget and 15,840 euros from the local government. Endla earned 1.34 million euros from ticket sales.
Rakvere Theater received 2.22 million euros from the state budget and 14,000 euros from the local government. Rakvere Theater's ticket revenue was nearly 1.02 million euros.
Viljandi Ugala received 2.1 million euros from the state and local governments. Ugala's ticket revenue was 1.3 million euros.
Vanemuine received 9.62 million euros from the state budget and 119,700 euros from the local government. Vanemuine earned nearly 3.2 million euros in ticket revenue.
The Inner City Theater (formerly the Russian Theater) received 3.30 million euros from the state budget and 26,000 euros from the local government. Ticket revenue was 1.11 million euros.
Kuressaare Theater received 278,000 euros from the state budget and 247,254 euros from the local government. Ticket revenue was 167,536 euros.
Independent theaters were allocated 4.57 million euros in support last year. The Ministry of Culture's budget was 362 million euros.
