Lauri said that the rain was very heavy. It rained a lot in May and June. Some trees have died, and the fruits are small. Every year the weather is different: last year there was hail and drought, this year there was flooding and cold weather.
On Hiiumaa, Triinu Schneider said that she has almost no apples. But in Southeast Estonia, there are more apples than last year.
Diseases and insects have damaged the quality of the apples. The apples are small or wormy. High-quality apples are very few. Lower-quality apples are used for juice and jam.
The Jaanihanso cider factory uses apples. Alvar Roosimaa said that there are fewer apples, but they still find enough. They need about 50,000 liters of juice. If they get less or more, it is not a problem.
