The SAIS3 system was supposed to replace the old procedure for basic school graduates applying to upper secondary or vocational schools this spring. The Ministry of Education and Research recently announced that the system is not yet ready. Therefore, schools must quickly seek new solutions.
At the meeting, Minister Kallas said that in her opinion there is no problem with admissions. This contradicts the views of local governments and school leaders. They now have to quickly change their plans, which creates stress for students.
Former Minister of Education Tõnis Lukas said that problems with completing basic education have existed since last spring. The minister has not been able to bring the necessary legislative amendments to the parliament that would help students.
Lukas added that Minister Kallas does not understand that last-minute changes cause great stress for students and their families. The current government does not take responsibility for its actions. For this reason, Isamaa is consulting with other opposition parties to initiate a vote of no confidence in the minister.
