On Saturday at 6:33 PM, the emergency center received a report that a car had veered off the road into the water in Auvere village, Ida-Viru County. The car overturned. Two people managed to get out of the car themselves. Two people remained in the car and died.
The Narva rescue team arrived on the scene. They retrieved two people who had remained in the car. The rescuers attempted to resuscitate them. Ambulance services also arrived and continued resuscitation efforts. Unfortunately, neither person could be saved.
The police stated that the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the road in a curve. It entered the Narva power plant channel and fell into the water. There were four men in the car. Two men managed to get out themselves. Two men remained in the car and died.
The police added that the two men who got out themselves were intoxicated. Ambulance services took them to the hospital. It is unknown which of the four men was the driver. The police are investigating the incident in more detail.
Two rescuers sustained injuries. Their eyes were exposed to black water. Ambulance services washed their eyes. One rescuer was taken to the hospital because their eyes were red and irritated. The rescuers did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
