Joel Jesse left the Eesti 200 party and Tallinn City Council. He said he was dissatisfied with the country's politics.
Jesse stated that tax hikes cause inflation. This affects people with lower incomes the most. He said his departure was not related to political disputes in Tallinn.
Jesse was unhappy with coalition agreements. He mentioned the motor vehicle tax and the elimination of the tax hump. He believed these tax increases harm people with lower incomes.
Jesse did not say whether he would join another party. He said: "It's summer now, let's see what autumn brings."
Jesse thanked Tallinn City Council members on social media. He wrote: "Every end is a new beginning." He decided to terminate his mandate prematurely.
Jesse left the party on July 3. He had been a member of the party since 2018. The new faction leader is Ivo Kappet.
