The Ministry of Defence does not disclose which companies received money to support Ukraine. This is related to security.
Press representative Ines Edur told ERR that the names of companies are not public. The funding is part of the Ukraine aid package.
Estonian companies can participate in the competition. This is organized by the Estonian Centre for Defence Investments (RKIK). All Estonian businesses meeting the competition requirements can participate.
RKIK checks whether companies meet the requirements. This is done by a special committee. It includes representatives from the defence forces and various ministries.
Products and services from suitable companies will be sent to Ukraine. Ukrainians themselves choose what they need. RKIK then signs contracts with selected companies.
In 2025 and 2026, Ukraine will receive 200 million euros worth of products from Estonia’s defence industry.
The Estonian government has promised to help Ukraine with at least 0.25% of GDP annually. Last year, the aid was 0.35% of GDP. This money goes to various ways of supporting Ukraine.
90% of the funds go to Estonia’s defence industry production. 5% goes to the IT coalition and 5% to training Ukrainian military personnel.
The competition terms require that 40% of production must take place in Estonia.
Robots, medical supplies and protective equipment have been sent to Ukraine.
