Birdwatcher Tarvo Valker spotted a cinereous vulture in Matsalu Bay. This happened on Wednesday.
Valker said the bird was very large. He used binoculars to see it better. He didn't have a camera but took a photo with his phone.
The cinereous vulture is rare in Läänemaa. It has been seen only 4-5 times. Valker last saw it in 2015.
In Estonia, the cinereous vulture has been spotted 14-15 times. Sometimes the bird stays in the forest where there are dead animals.
In 2024, Jaak Tammekänd saw a cinereous vulture in Ledissoo. The bird was very large and looked like a dragon.
Tammekänd also took a photo of the cinereous vulture. This is a rare event.
