Former Haapsalu mayor Urmas Sukles says he is now joining the Center Party. He also wants to participate in the next parliamentary elections.
The leader of the Center Party, Mihhail Kõlvart, says that Sukles will help the party in Läänemaa. Sukles led the city of Haapsalu for 25 years. He knows local issues and Estonian society well.
Sukles wrote a book about his life as mayor during the winter. He also thought about his future. He does not want to retire but wants to continue working. He has a lot of experience in politics. He wants to help develop Estonia.
Sukles says his choice was simple. He believes in the renewed Center Party. His goal now is to help the Center Party in Läänemaa. He wants to go to the parliament and represent Western Estonia.
Sukles was the mayor of Haapsalu from 1993–2002 and 2009–2025. He previously belonged to the Reform Party. Last year, he ran with his own list, HARI. It received 8 out of 25 seats in Haapsalu.
