Renata Lukk is the district elder of Kristiine. She worked from Laos. She said she worked during the week and traveled on weekends.
Lukk left Estonia on June 30. She knew she could lose her job. She took five days off and then worked remotely. The Kristiine building was being renovated.
Lukk said: "The renovation makes noise. Everyone can work remotely. I am doing it too. The renovation will end soon."
Lukk has been working since July 7. She attends meetings and signs documents. "The work is going well," she said.
Tallinn Mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski is unaware of Lukk's remote work. He does not approve of it. "The district elder should go on vacation," said Ossinovski.
Ossinovski said: "Remote work should be done for a short time, not from another country." He spoke with Lukk.
Ossinovski said that Lukk is a good employee. But in public work, one must be proper. "If a person is on vacation, they should rest," he said.
Deputy Mayor Aleksei Jašin said that Lukk is doing her job well. "Remote work is normal. Lukk is hardworking," said Jašin.
Jašin said that the Reform Party is causing problems in Tallinn. It forced people to interrupt their vacation.
