The Defense Forces warned on Sunday morning about the threat of drones in Võru County and Ida-Viru County. People received a message on their phones: "Possible drone threat. Take shelter."
At 5:30 AM, the Defense Forces announced that the threat had passed. The drones were moving near the Estonian border but did not enter Estonia.
Colonel Uku Arold said that the drones flew near the Estonian border. One drone may have briefly entered Estonian airspace but returned to Russia.
Residents of Ida-Viru County heard the noise of drones. Some also saw drones. The Defense Forces are checking these reports.
The governor of Russia's Leningrad Oblast stated that Russian air defense destroyed 51 drones. Ukrainian drones have previously attacked Russian regions.
Finland suspects that the drones may have also entered their airspace. The Finnish Border Guard is investigating this.
Latvia also issued a drone threat warning. People received a message: "Take shelter indoors. Do not approach drones." The Latvian Defense Forces are monitoring the situation.
The Defense Forces stated that the drone threat may persist as long as Russia's war in Ukraine continues.
