On Saturday, the tulip festival opened in Kirna Manor Park. The park has over 200,000 tulip bulbs. About 60% of them are already in bloom. The tulips come from 150 different varieties.
The festival was opened by the Popsid wind orchestra of the University of Tartu. People walked among the flowers and admired their beauty. Maret from Tartu said: "Estonian beauty is amazing. The scents, birdsong, and beautiful colors are wonderful."
Valdur and Kristi from Tallinn visited Holland last year to see the tulips. They said that Kirna is also very beautiful. Kristi recalled: "I was here 12-14 years ago when the park was restored. Now it is very beautiful here."
Tuuli Org, the lady of Kirna Manor, said that 200,000 tulips are blooming in the park. She said: "Last year we planted 100,000 new bulbs. They will soon start blooming. The manor also hosts two art exhibitions. Additionally, there are beautiful flower arrangements."
Org explained why the tulips are so beautiful: "Nature has been kind to us. Last year there was a lot of rain and cold. Now the weather is good. We did everything to ensure the tulips grew well."
Org advised people to remember their favorite varieties. She said: "In June, we will organize a community event. People will be able to dig up tulip bulbs and take them home."
The tulip festival lasts 2-3 weeks.
