Kehtestati Rail Balticu Pärnu 45-kilomeetrise trassilõigu planeering
Planning for the 45-kilometer Rail Baltica section in Pärnu has been established
Majandus- ja kommunikatsiooniministeerium kehtestas Rail Balticu Lõuna-Pärnumaa trassilõigu planeeringu. 45-kilomeetrise trassilõigu planeeringu tühistas riigikohus 2020. aastal, sest mõju metsise elupaikadele ei olnud piisavalt hinnatud.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications has established the planning for the Rail Baltica section in South Pärnu County. The 45-kilometer section's planning was annulled by the Supreme Court in 2020 because the impact on capercaillie habitats had not been sufficiently assessed.
The new section was chosen from six possible options. The construction cannot avoid impacting capercaillies. Therefore, new habitats for capercaillies will be created in South Pärnu County.
Eleri Kautlenbach, the Rail Baltica project manager at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, said that a suitable railway section has been sought for five years. "The Minister of Economic Affairs and Industry has established the Rail Baltica planning in this section, which was annulled by the Supreme Court decision in 2020," said Kautlenbach.
"For five years, we have been working to find a new suitable location for the railway. Now it exists, and this is a very important step forward. Since the planning has been established, we can make preparations for the construction of Rail Baltica.
