EKRE and Parempoolsed are talking about lowering taxes. EKRE wants to abolish the car tax. Parempoolsed wants to reduce VAT and income tax. But both parties lack well-known individuals.
EKRE gathered for a congress on Saturday. Martin Helme was re-elected as the party leader. Mart Helme is their presidential candidate. EKRE promises to lower taxes and stimulate the economy. Martin Helme said: "We must lower taxes, such as VAT and excise duties. We will abolish the car tax. Affordable electricity and fuel are crucial. Then the economy will grow."
Parempoolsed introduced their election program. Their leader Lavly Perling said they want to reduce VAT and income tax. VAT should drop to 20% and income tax to 18%. Perling also talked about reforms. For example, subsidies should end, and pensions should not rise.
Perling said: "We must change the social system, education, and healthcare. People should participate more. The state does not have endless money. If we do not change, we cannot provide services."
Martin Helme added: "The state is more than just money. If the birth rate does not increase, everything is futile."
Journalist Urmas Jaagant said people think more about their own money than the state budget. EKRE and Parempoolsed have few well-known politicians. Jaagant said: "EKRE has fewer people than before. Parempoolsed have it even harder."
According to surveys, EKRE is supported by 13.9% and Parempoolsed by 8.5% of people. Jaagant said: "The question people have is why choose EKRE when there is Isamaa or Keskerakond. It's easier for Parempoolsed because some no longer want to vote for the Reform Party."
