The regional minister said that a one-euro monthly ticket could help more people validate their tickets. The free right to travel is why some people do not validate.
Most public transport centers already use ticketing systems that collect data about the lines. For example, in the Viljandi County Public Transport Center, the bus driver registers each passenger's information.
Kaupo Kase, head of the Viljandi County Public Transport Center, said they can find out who is traveling and from where to where. Additionally, they know whether the passenger is young, old, or using a monthly ticket.
The problem is with city lines, where bus drivers cannot register trips. The data is used to improve the lines. For example, in Tartu County, changes are made every month.
Maikl Aunapuu, head of the Tartu County Public Transport Center, said that data collection is not a problem. He would like the ministry to show more interest and visit the site.
