Tallinn Mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski said that the current feedback on school food is not good. He noted that in some schools, students' satisfaction is high, but in other schools, it is too low.<p></p>Schools can now terminate contracts with catering services early if students are not satisfied with the food. This motivates caterers to perform better, as their results vary between schools.<p></p>Deputy Mayor for Education Aleksei Jašin explained that schools have the opportunity to terminate a five-year contract with a caterer if students are not satisfied with the food. In addition, the city government has set a goal for all schools to offer students plant-based food.<p></p>From next year, tasting commissions will evaluate the taste of the food. Tasting is popular, for example, in Tartu.<p></p>Jašin said that some caterers welcome the changes, but some do not. He hopes that by working with caterers, they can provide better food quality for students.<p></p>Some caterers are concerned that they do not have enough money to provide food. Jašin responded that money is relative. He added that low satisfaction does not automatically mean the termination of the contract but gives the school that opportunity.<p></p>Ossinovski said that according to state regulations, food must be healthy. In addition, it is now important that the food tastes good. The taste of school food will now be seriously evaluated and demanded.
