81% of Estonians believe that Estonia should resist in case of an attack. 62% are ready to participate in defense activities. This number is the same as in the last two years. Estonians are more ready (69%) than other nationalities (48%).
Half of the population believes that Estonia can defend itself until allies help. Most think that the country has improved its defense in recent years. 81% support the gathering of reservists and 79% support allied flight exercises.
64% of residents want training grounds to be expanded. Most (two thirds) want defense spending to increase or remain the same. 35% support increasing spending, the same number wants to leave it as it is. 17% want to reduce spending.
Residents believe that Estonia will become less secure in the future. 33% believe that the situation will worsen, 29% think it will remain the same. The main threats are fake news (86%) and cyberattacks (84%).
A military attack is less likely (49%). Residents also fear Russian influence in neighboring countries and the war in Ukraine. 71% feel safe. Women, young people, and representatives of other nationalities feel less safe.
The majority (82%) supports Estonia's membership in NATO. 71% believe that NATO will protect Estonia from war. 56% think that NATO is doing enough for Estonia's defense. 82% support the presence of NATO allied forces.
52% support Estonia's participation in international operations. 67% want to continue supporting Ukraine. Estonians support this more (80%) than other nationalities (41%).
The survey was conducted by Kantar Emor. 1372 people participated in the poll. This is a continuation of previous surveys.
