Some members of the Riigikogu do not belong to any faction. They believe that the President of Estonia should be elected by the people. MP Tõnis Mölder says they have their own plan and candidates. They have talked with political parties but do not exclude other candidates.
Kersti Sarapuu says the president should be empathetic and courageous. She supports Ülle Madis and Jüri Luik. Mölder says some people are interested in becoming president. These people are entrepreneurs, cultural figures and diplomats.
Riigikogu member Enn Eesmaa thinks the president could be a woman. He believes election in the Riigikogu is possible but difficult. He says it requires compromise.
Varro Vooglaid will not go to the presidential election. He believes the president should definitely be elected by the people. He does not think the agreement between political parties is fair.
Jaak Valge will not go to Toompea on September 2 but will vote in the electoral college. He believes the president should be elected by the electoral college. This gives the president greater trust.
