The Government Office is looking for a new government communication director. Three people have applied for this position.
Now, interviews with the candidates will take place. The new leader should be selected by the end of this year. This was stated to ERR by Jane-Liina Liiv, an advisor at the Government Communication Bureau (VKB).
The Government Office announced the competition on November 3. Candidates had to submit their documents by November 17.
The candidates had to write a short essay. The topic was "The connections between government communication and policy shaping." They also had to follow the values of the Government Office. These are mastery, openness, and reliability.
The competition had to be announced because the current director, Rasmus Ruuda, is leaving. He has worked at the Government Office for nearly four years.
Currently, Rasmus Ruuda is fulfilling the duties of the VKB head. He will continue working until a new leader is found. Liis Velsker, who is on parental leave, wants to return to work later. She wishes to become the deputy head of VKB.
The term of a top public service leader is five years.
