Several well-known Estonian entrepreneurs, such as Kristjan Rahu, Jüri Käo and others, acquired a stake in the large data center Greenergy Data Centers operating in Hüür.
Most of the shares remain with the state investment fund Kolm Meri. The new investment amounts to nearly 100 million euros.
Martin Rungi, CEO of Greenergy, said that over 70 million euros have already been invested and by the end of the year the total investment will be around 200 million euros.
The investment will expand the center. No new buildings will be constructed; instead, the existing building will be modified and IT capacity will be added.
Miko Niinemäe, CEO of Tensor Estate, explained that the main part of the investment is upgrading the building's technology. This will allow utilizing artificial intelligence capabilities.
Urvo Männama, owner of Tensor Aurora, noted that AI investments are popular worldwide. In Estonia, there are still few large data centers in this field.
Greenergy Data Centers primarily serves Estonian clients but aims to expand its foreign client base with this investment.
