Estonia regained its independence
Estonia celebrates the 35th anniversary of its restoration of independence on August 20.
On August 19, there is a major conference. Important figures will speak about Estonia's independence and future.
On August 20, the day begins with a flag-raising ceremony in the Governor's Garden. This is followed by a church service at Toomkirik. People will lay flowers at the memorial stone. A new postage stamp will be unveiled at the Riigikogu.
In the afternoon, there will be a concert in the Governor's Garden featuring performances by SADU, NOËP, and others. The area around the memorial stone will be beautified.
In the evening, the President invites guests to the Kadriorg Rose Garden. People from Latvia and Lithuania will also attend.
There will be a free family day at the Tallinn TV Tower, where visitors can see the work of the police, defense forces, and other institutions. In the evening, Black Velvet will perform.
Vabamu is organizing a cycling event and activities for families. Participants can engage in Estonia-themed activities and visit exhibitions.
The president of the August 20 Club says this year is special. Many people who fought for independence are now elderly, and this may be their last major anniversary.
