When the construction of the Nature House was planned, the Climate Ministry was one of the institutions that was supposed to move there. Now it is clear that the Climate Ministry will not move to North Tallinn. The state is now looking for a new tenant for the vacant space.
The Climate Ministry has decided to stay in a shared building with other ministries. This is an economically sensible solution. It also helps to collaborate better with other government institutions. The Climate Ministry has no plans to move again in the near future.
Other institutions will move to the Nature House, such as the Nature Museum, the Environmental Board, and the Land and Space Department. The addition of these institutions will bring other environmental topics. The Nature House has a total of about 5700 square meters of office space. Currently, 900 square meters are vacant.
The state is talking to various institutions to fill these vacant spaces. The goal is to create good collaboration between organizations dealing with the environment.
The Nature House, being built near Lennusadam, has been planned for a long time. Originally, it was supposed to be completed in 2024, but now the deadline has been moved to the summer of 2026. The Nature House is expected to be Estonia's most environmentally friendly state building. Its construction will use a lot of wood, and it will be a near-zero-energy building.
