The Political Parties Financing Surveillance Committee (ERJK) initiated proceedings last week against members of parliament Luisa Värk and Kadri Tali. They participated in social media advertisements. Tali believes her political and cultural activities cannot be viewed separately, as the advertisement concerned her cultural role.
Tali participated in social media advertisements for Audi Tallinn and Audi Estonia. ERJK initiated proceedings because of this. The advertisement was on the Instagram account of Reval Auto Esindused OÜ. ERJK chairman Heiki Sibul wrote that this advertisement is linked to Tali's account.
ERJK stated that Tali is also the manager of the Nordic Symphony Orchestra in addition to being a politician. The committee asked Tali to clarify whether her roles in the advertisements are distinguishable and whether she received payment for the advertisement. Tali responded that she has been managing the orchestra since 1997 together with her sister Anu Tali.
Tali explained that Audi is one of the orchestra's sponsors. They made an agreement that Audi would provide them with a car for use and they would offer visibility and advertising cooperation. Tali emphasized that her cultural and political roles are an inseparable part of her life and are not in conflict with the values of a politician.
ERJK also asked Luisa Värk to explain her participation in social media advertisements. Värk advertised products from Mööbliait and Goldtime. The committee asked her to state whether she received payment for the advertisement and to provide evidence.
Värk did not respond to ERR's questions. She said this matter concerns her and ERJK and there is no public interest in it.
