In Tallinn, Pro Patria and the Center Party are discussing the coalition. They do not intend to build a tramway on Liivalaia Street. The tramway from Pelguranna to Puhangu Street will also not be built.
Lauri Laats (Center Party) said that the Liivalaia tramway would worsen traffic. The new coalition will not build it. "Our goal is to improve Liivalaia Street. It must be safe and easily passable," said Laats. Experts say that the tramway would worsen traffic throughout Tallinn. Therefore, the project is being abandoned.
The chairman of the Center Party, Mihhail Kõlvart, wrote on social media that the tramway to Liivalaia will not be built. He spoke with experts from the transport agency. The intersections would not be able to handle the traffic. The tramway cannot be extended to Mustamäe or Haabersti. It would remain only in the city center. Such a tramway is not beneficial.
Kõlvart also said that the tramway from Pelguranna to Puhangu Street will not be built. The coalition is looking at alternative routes for the Pelguranna tram.
The news will be updated.
