Chancellor of Justice Ülle Madise said she wants to run for president. On Monday, she met with various Riigikogu factions.
Madise had a busy day. She met with the Center Party at 10 in the morning. At noon, she met with Isamaa.
Center Party chairman Lauri Laats said the meeting went well. Faction members asked many questions. The questions were about human rights, the justice system, and government decisions. For example, they discussed the car tax.
Madise was asked how she sees herself as president. She said she wants to unite people. She believes everyone should have access to education and the means to make a living.
Madise's opponent may be Tiit Land. Land is the rector of Tallinn University of Technology. He has more experience in technology and education. Madise, however, has more knowledge of law.
Laats said the president should have knowledge of both education and law. Currently, there are two candidates with different strengths.
The Center Party will decide this week whether to support Madise or Land.
Madise also met with other parties. She met with the Reform Party, the Social Democrats, and non-aligned MPs.
After the meetings, Madise gave an interview. The interview was on ERR's news portal.
Madise announced on Monday that she wants to run for president. Last week, she received 62 signatures in support.
