The Pärnu City Council assembled. They elected a new chairman. Andrei Korobeinik became the chairman. He is from the Center Party. He received 20 votes. He says he wants to do good work. He wants to talk with the opposition.
Andrei Korobeinik will be chairman for one year. Next year, the coalition will swap the positions of chairman and mayor. The mayor of Pärnu is Kristel Voltenberg.
The council also elected two deputy chairpersons. They are Kari Maripuu and Olav Karulin. Both received 22 votes. Johan Kärp received 12 votes.
The new coalition was formed in October. The coalition includes the Center Party, EKRE, the Right-wingers, and two alliances. The opposition consists of the Reform Party and Isamaa. The council has 39 members. 22 members are from the coalition. 16 members are from the opposition. One member is without a group.
