The wood industry company Puidukoda is a French firm. They have been operating in Näpi for three years.
Puidukoda chose Näpi because of its good location. Ports are nearby, and there is plenty of space. The company's manager, Eveli Opmann, says that investing in Estonia has now become more difficult.
Estonia's position in the world has changed. The war in Ukraine has made things more complicated. Energy prices and labor costs are also higher.
To remain competitive, Puidukoda purchased a new machine. It cost one million euros. The machine helps preserve wood for longer. Typically, wood deteriorates in two years, but now it lasts 20-30 years.
Infrastructure Minister Kuldar Leisi says that such investments are good. They show that the wood industry is developing.
Puidukoda provides jobs for 130 people. 20 of them work in Näpi. The company has invested five million euros in Näpi.
