On Monday, the Estonian Defense Forces' largest international exercise of the year, Siil 2025, begins, with over 16,000 Estonian and allied fighters invited to participate.
During the exercise, soldiers from the allies, the Estonian Defense Forces, and the Defense League will move across Estonia. The main exercises will take place in Northeast Estonia and Southeast Estonia. In West, North, and Central Estonia, soldiers will assist the Estonian division's operations.
Various units of the Estonian Defense Forces, such as the Navy, Air Force, and Defense League, will participate from Estonia. NATO soldiers are also involved.
In addition to Estonian soldiers, soldiers from over 10 countries will attend the exercise. For example, soldiers from the United Kingdom, the USA, Canada, and Germany.
The United Kingdom's brigade and French soldiers will work together with the Estonian division. This is the first time so many UK soldiers are training in Estonia.
During the exercise, the Defense Forces and the Rescue Board will test the emergency alert system. Sirens will sound in over 20 settlements.
The exercises will use blank ammunition, training grenades, and flare guns.
The Siil 2025 exercise is the largest exercise of the Estonian Defense Forces. Its aim is to practice military operations and improve cooperation between Estonia and allied countries.
