Eesti 200 and the Estonian Greens considered merging. They also considered running together in the upcoming Riigikogu elections.
On Sunday, Eesti 200 held a council meeting. They decided to abandon the merger. Johannes Merilai, Eesti 200's head of communications, spoke about this.
Merilai said that the policies of Eesti 200 and the Greens are different. Merging would not add anything to them. The Greens have their strong positions. But combining these two parties would not necessarily be beneficial.
During Sunday's meeting, they did not discuss whether Eesti 200 would participate in the Riigikogu elections. Merilai said there is still time for that decision. Currently, the party is preparing for the elections. They want to run with a full list.
Toomas Uibo, the chairman of Eesti 200's Riigikogu faction, said he will not run in the next elections. Irja Lutsar said the same in July. Three and a half months ago, party leader Kristina Kallas said all members are ready to run.
The results of the latest poll showed that Eesti 200's support was 1.2 percent.
