On Saturday afternoon, the fifth literature festival began in Pärnu. It took place in Koidula Park and at the Koidula Museum. The festival lasted 12 hours. The festival organizer Merle Jantson said that the festival is very content-rich. The festival featured various theme stages, thought workshops, and a book market. The stages also had a place for writers and cultural figures.
This year, the festival had one new stage. This stage was intended for book presentations. Jantson said that there you can meet writers who introduce their books. With this stage, they wanted to draw attention to the Estonian Year of the Book.
According to Jantson, the Pärnu literature festival is special. Most of the topics were moderated by Pärnu writers. This is unique. Around midnight, visits were made to past writers. For example, this year they visited Kersti Merilaas and August Sang in their former home courtyard.
The literature festival taking place in Koidula Park is special. There you can see various themes in one place. For example, you can take your child to the children’s area to listen to writers or play with Professor Tähenärija. At the same time, you can listen to Lembit Peterson, Jüri Talvet, or Vaiko Eplik. Such a thing does not exist at any other festival.
