Several changes are being made to traffic management in Tallinn ahead of Midsummer. These changes will help make traffic clearer and safer.
The traffic changes are being implemented in areas where many traffic accidents have occurred in the past. The city government analyzed residents' feedback and found better solutions. The changes affect lanes, turns, and pedestrian paths.
To minimize disruptions, special equipment from Finland is being used. For example, reversible lane markings will be removed from Gonsiori Street. Traffic management will be adjusted at the intersection of Pronksi and Gonsiori streets.
A new traffic light regulating left turns will be added to Pronksi Street. Traffic management will be made clearer at the intersection of Estonia Boulevard and Kentmanni Street to make public transport safer.
At the intersection of Pärnu maantee and Tõnismäe, the pedestrian crossing will be moved closer to Pärnu maantee. This will make pedestrian movement more convenient and safer.
At the intersection of Tondi Street and A. H. Tammsaare Road, lane trajectories will be adjusted. This will reduce the risk of traffic accidents.
Additionally, smaller traffic management changes will be made in various parts of the city. The city asks all road users to be attentive and follow traffic control devices.
The work began this week. In the first phase, old road markings will be removed.
