The reconstruction works of the Kadaka puiestee bridge are nearing completion. The bridge will open to traffic on May 19. Public transport will end detours next week.
The reconstruction works of the Kadaka puiestee bridge began last July. The bridge will open to traffic on May 19. Initially, the bridge was supposed to open at the end of last year, but the works were delayed. Now the bridge can be opened a month and a half earlier.
During the construction of the new bridge, underground networks were relocated. In addition, a new stormwater pipeline was built. Experts recommended the reconstruction of the bridge back in 2020, as the old bridge was dangerous. The bridge was built by Atemo OÜ. The cost of the works was nearly €1.85 million.
Atemo demolished the old bridge and built a new reinforced concrete bridge. The new bridge is 35 meters long, 5 meters high, and 17 meters wide. Pedestrian and bicycle paths were also built on the bridge. The pedestrian and bicycle paths are 5.5 meters wide. In addition, a new pedestrian path was constructed next to the viaduct. It connects the roads passing under the overpass with the upper road.
After the bridge opens, some works will continue. For example, finishing the pedestrian paths, installing lighting, and road marking. All works will be completed in February 2026.
