The Ministry of Finance intends to change the registration fee starting next year.
Currently, minibuses and large family cars pay more. Starting next year, they will be taxed like N-category vehicles.
The N-category fee is lower. This means the new registration fee will be around 530 euros. Currently, it is about 2200 euros.
Deputy Chancellor Evelyn Liivamägi said this change will help families and people with disabilities. They often need larger vehicles.
Currently, M-category is used for minibuses and family cars. The M-category fee is higher than the N-category fee. Since the use of these vehicles is similar, it is reasonable to apply the same fee.
This change will reduce the state budget by about one million euros annually. However, it will help better account for vehicle usage and reduce the tax burden.
