Social Minister Karmen Joller has proposed to increase the co-payment for services for people with special needs. Starting from April, people will have to pay more themselves.
The maximum price for the community living service for people with mental special needs is 405 euros per month until March 2026. From April, it will be 446 euros per month.
The maximum price for 24-hour special care service is 405 euros per month until March 2026. From April, it will be 446 euros per month if the service is provided to more than 12 people at a time.
If the service is provided to up to 12 people at a time, the maximum price is 477 euros per month until March 2026. From April, it will be 525 euros per month.
The maximum price for day and week care service is 360 euros per month until March 2026. From April, it will be 396 euros per month.
The subsistence limit for a person living alone or the first member of a family will increase to 220 euros per month. Previously, it was 200 euros.
The minister explained that the co-payment increase is necessary because the costs of accommodation and catering have increased in recent years.
Starting from 2026, the cost of bedding and its washing will also be added to the co-payment limit calculation. Previously, these costs were covered by the state.
Joller added that the price increase will start in April, when the daily rate of incapacity benefit and the national pension will also rise. This will reduce the impact of the price increase.
