Andrus Kaarelson is now the chairman of the Parempoolsed council. In his first speech, he emphasized that Parempoolsed's mission is to focus on policies that ensure Estonia's security and increase the prosperity of Estonians.
Kaarelson said: "For Estonia's long-term success, it is essential to protect personal freedoms, ensure responsibility and rights for people. We also need an open economy with freedom in entrepreneurship and innovation."
He recalled that according to the Estonian constitution, the state must ensure foreign policy, national defense, internal security, and the development of the rule of law. Kaarelson found that the state has strayed far from these tasks.
Kaarelson believes that Estonia must become a spokesperson on artificial intelligence topics. He said: "Parempoolsed must have the courage to offer a vision for Estonia as the first AI-based society. There, artificial intelligence should be in the service of people, ensuring freedom and prosperity."
Kaarelson is also the chairman of the Rae municipal council. In the 2025 local elections, he received 583 votes as Parempoolsed's top candidate in Rae. This was the second best result in Rae.
Both Kaarelson and Merle Raun belong to the Parempoolsed board. Raun is now the vice-chair of the council.
