Varsti saab turvalisemalt minna Vaivarast Sillamäele
Soon it will be safer to travel from Vaivara to Sillamäe
Sillamäe ja Narva-Jõesuu elanikud saavad kauaoodatud kergliiklustee, mis ühendab Sillamäed Vaivaras asuva raudteejaama ja aiandusühistutega.
Residents of Sillamäe and Narva-Jõesuu will get the long-awaited pedestrian and cycling path connecting Sillamäe with the railway station in Vaivara and gardening associations.
Local residents have been waiting for decades for the pedestrian and cycling path from Sillamäe to the villages of Vaivara and Sõtke in Narva-Jõesuu. Especially during the gardening season, many people move along the road.
During the summer period, this road is very busy. Traffic is dense there because there are two gardening associations nearby. They belong to the city of Narva-Jõesuu, but most of the people who live there in the summer are residents of Sillamäe.
The three-kilometer-long pedestrian and cycling path will allow people to travel more safely from Sillamäe to Vaivara railway station. The Tallinn-Narva train stops in Vaivara six times a day.
Currently, the road is in poor condition. Pedestrians, cyclists, and cars move together there. This project will solve this problem. Now it will be possible to travel safely on foot and by bicycle. This is also important for traffic safety.
The construction of the pedestrian and cycling path, costing over one million euros, is one of the two projects supported by the Transport Administration. Narva-Jõesuu and Sillamäe contribute to the project with a ten percent co-financing.
Such cooperation projects are very good. When two municipalities get along well and develop a joint project, it is rare and good.
The Sillamäe-Vaivara pedestrian and cycling path should be completed by the upcoming autumn.
