Pealtnägija: MTÜ Slava Ukraini probleemid olid ammu nähtavad

Witness: Problems at Slava Ukraini NGO Were Long Visible

Augistis esitas prokuratuur MTÜ Slava Ukraini endisele juhile Johanna-Maria Lehtmele süüdistuse raha kuritarvitamises. „Pealtnägija“ uuris skandaali uuesti ja leidis uusi detaile.

Johanna-Maria Lehtme esines 2022. aasta aprillis riigikogu kõnepuldis. Ta rääkis, et tema sõbranna ja laps on surnud. Ta palus abi Ukrainas sõjas kannatanutele. Kuid Viktoria Indrisova, MTÜ endine juht, ütles, et Lehtme valetas.

Indrisova oli üks esimesi vabatahtlikke MTÜ-s. Ta nägi, kuidas väikesest tiimist kasvas Eesti suurim . Indrisova usub, et Lehtme tahtis alguses tõesti aidata.

Kuid uued detailid näitavad, et Lehtme tegevus oli pahauskne. Endine Slava Ukraini nõukogu liige Ilmar Raag nimetas teda geniaalseks valetajaks. MTÜ Slava Ukraini asutati 2022. aasta märtsis. Varsti toimus kontsert, mis kogus 700 000 eurot.

However, new details show that Lehtme's actions were in bad faith. Ilmar Raag, a former member of Slava Ukraini's board, called her a genius liar. The NGO Slava Ukraini was founded in March 2022. Soon after, a concert was held that raised 700,000 euros.

Lehtme became the face of Slava. She often put herself in danger by delivering aid to Ukraine. However, Indrisova saw that not everything was in order. Lehtme's behavior became erratic, and she threatened others.

In August 2022, Lehtme signed a contract with the company IC Construction. This company was linked to corruption. Prosecutor Sigrid Nurm said that Lehtme should have been more careful.

Lehtme herself and also asked others to transfer cash across the border. This was legal, but the origin of the money was questionable. Raag and Indrisova admit that it is easy to be wise in hindsight.

Lehtme denied all accusations. She ran for the Riigikogu, which made the situation more complicated. Raag demanded answers from Lehtme, but she promised documents that arrived later.

Suspicions about Slava Ukraini NGO spread quickly. Criminal cases were initiated. The NGO was liquidated, and the donors' money disappeared. Lehtme was charged with abuse of trust and embezzlement.

Prosecutor Sigrid Nurm said that aid did reach Ukraine, but it cost too much. According to the charges, the damage exceeded 450,000 euros. However, the prosecutor's office is not seeking to recover this money from Lehtme.
