Prime Minister Kristen Michal said that common ground must be found for the new president. The president must have a clear plan for Estonia's foreign and security policy. They must be able to unite the people.
Michal said that the Reform Party is ready to cooperate with others. In parliament, parties must find a candidate supported by at least 68 MPs. The president can come from either the Riigikogu or the electoral college.
Currently, there are many disagreements between parties. Michal asks to forget them and look to the future. He calls on parties to emerge from political trenches. Victory Day is a good time to start.
At the end of June and in July, the best candidate should be sought. There is no need to rush. Parties should discuss calmly. In July, parties could meet and look for common ground. Then it will be clear if the support of 68 MPs can be found.
Michal emphasized that security and foreign policy are important. The president must be able to unite the people. The Reform Party is ready for cooperation.
