In August, the state treasury received 116 million euros more than last year. In total, 1.27 billion euros were collected. 90% of tax debts were paid on time.
The increase in tax revenue is mainly due to tax changes. Wages and the wage fund have also grown. The total amount of wages increased by 5.5% in August compared to the previous year.
The wage fund grew the most in industry, where it increased by about 11 million euros or 6%. The number of jobs decreased in all sectors by 0.3%, or nearly 2000 jobs. The most jobs were lost in retail.
In summer, the number of seasonal jobs increased, especially in accommodation, catering, arts, and sports sectors. For example, seasonal jobs include agricultural work, camps, and military exercises. However, these jobs do not significantly affect wage statistics because the wages of these workers are low.
Over eight months, 173 million euros more in income tax were collected. Social tax collections increased by 181 million euros. VAT collections increased by 194 million euros, partly due to the growth of e-commerce.
Excise tax collections improved. Fuel excise tax collections increased by 7.4%, tobacco excise tax by 1.7%. Alcohol excise tax collections decreased by 4.5% due to stockpiling before the excise tax increase.
90% of August tax claims were paid on time. Tax discipline is good, although it decreased by 3% for individuals. Tax debt decreased by 67.4 million euros in August. As of September 1, the tax debt was 347.6 million euros. The largest debt is in VAT.
