Isamaa candidate in the Tallinn elections, Hindrek Riikoja, says that if he is elected, he will join the party. He cannot yet say whether he will also participate in the parliamentary elections.
Did you want to enter politics, or did the party offer it to you? Around Midsummer, my job at Maaleht ended. Several parties then contacted me. We talked at length, and Isamaa seemed like the best choice.
Why did you choose Isamaa? There is no ideal party. For the past 20 years, I have been able to express my opinion on the radio, in newspapers, and in podcasts. I am the father of a large family and am interested in children, large families, and tax policy. These are the issues that Isamaa stands for.
Do you plan to leave journalism and run for parliamentary elections? I am not yet talking about parliamentary elections. In politics, nothing is certain. I need to see if voters trust me. Time will tell.
Do you see yourself in journalism? The future will show. Journalism has changed. Twenty years ago, you couldn't go from journalism into politics and then return. Now it's possible.
The local elections are a test. What position would you like? I don't know yet. Since I was laid off, I can look around a bit. I like doing work where you see results.
Do you hope to find a job in the city? I haven't thought about it yet.
Will you join this party? If I am elected, I will definitely join. If you do politics, do it honestly and openly.
