The Estonian Defense Forces sent an alert early Wednesday morning. The alert stated there was a drone threat in Lääne-Viru and Ida-Viru counties. Shortly after, Tartu, Jõgeva, Viljandi, Valga, Võru and Põlva counties were added. At 5:52 AM, the Defense Forces canceled the air threat.
Some people received a message before 4 AM. The message said the drone threat in Lääne-Viru and Ida-Viru counties was over. But the state information phone line stated at 4:18 AM that the threat still existed. At 4:26 AM, a new alert came. It said the threat also extended to Tartu, Jõgeva, Viljandi, Valga, Võru and Põlva counties. People were advised to take shelter if they spotted a drone.
Some residents of Võru told ERR they heard noise early in the morning. The noise might have been from a drone. At 5:52 AM, the Defense Forces canceled the air threat across Estonia.
Tallinn Airport operated normally. Flights departed on time. The flight from Tartu to Helsinki also departed on schedule.
There was also a drone threat in Latvia. Latvia issued an alert for the Aluksne region, which is 50 km south of Võru. The alert was yellow. It did not require immediate action but advised reporting any potential threat.
NATO air defense fighters were scrambled. Latvian media reported this. The threat in the Aluksne region ended at 6:20 AM.
Ukraine attacked Russia overnight. The strike targeted a military factory in Tambov Oblast. There were also drone attacks in Moscow and St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg airspace was temporarily closed.
