The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that there is a significant rocket threat in the Middle East region. Over the past 24 hours, military activity has expanded further. Iran has attacked other countries with rockets and drones.
The Estonian embassy building in Abu Dhabi was hit. Fortunately, all embassy staff are safe.
Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said: „We ask Estonian citizens to remain calm and stay in a safe place. We are monitoring the situation around the clock and assisting citizens.“
The Foreign Minister added: „Most important is to follow local channels and adhere to their instructions.“
Many Middle Eastern countries have closed their airspace and airports. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not know when the airspace will reopen.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs updated travel warnings for the following countries: Israel, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan.
In the UAE, Dubai and Abu Dhabi are targets of attacks. It is important to stay indoors and follow the instructions of authorities.
The UAE government issues telephone alerts regarding air raids. The state assists tourists with covering travel expenses.
The UAE airspace is closed. Going to the airport is recommended only if the flight is confirmed.
The UAE land border with Oman is open, but movement at the border is slow.
In Israel, Estonian citizens are advised to leave the country. Border crossings with Egypt and Jordan are open.
In Saudi Arabia, the airspace is open. Citizens must take visa requirements into account when traveling.
In Qatar, the airspace is closed. The border with Saudi Arabia is open.
In Oman, there may be disruptions in air traffic.
In Egypt, there is no direct threat at the moment.
