Taimar Peterkop: Only a Few Politicians Are Completely Cynical
Endine riigisekretär Taimar Peterkop räägib, kuidas erinevad peaministrid töötavad ja miks enamik poliitikuid siiski Eesti hea eest teevad.
Former State Secretary Taimar Peterkop talks about how different prime ministers work and why most politicians still work for the good of Estonia.
Former State Secretary Taimar Peterkop said in an interview with Vikerraadio that the current Prime Minister Kristen Michal is a cautious politician. According to Peterkop's experience, only a few politicians are completely cynical. Most, however, work for the good of Estonia.
Peterkop explains that the work of the State Secretary is similar to that of the Prime Minister. The State Secretary helps organize the work of the government. He prepares the agenda for government meetings and handles technical matters.
Peterkop says that his wish was for the government to make effective decisions. He tried to help when there were problems. Often he was a mediator when politicians could not agree on things.
Peterkop believes that Jüri Ratas and Kaja Kallas were active prime ministers. They took responsibility and dealt with problems quickly. Kristen Michal is more cautious and approaches things with certainty.
Peterkop believes that most politicians want to work for the good of Estonia. In politics, one must also be a populist, but many politicians do their work with heart.
