Võrafest is taking place for the first time. This festival fills Pärnu for three days with folk dancers and gymnasts from across Estonia. They practice and learn new dance styles. They also perform on various stages around the city.
Võrafest is a gymnastics and folk dance festival. Its main idea is to bring folk dancers and gymnasts together. They get to perform in a new environment. Usually, we see them at dance festivals or gymnastics events. Now they can do completely different performances. They also learn various movement techniques in workshops.
The festival concludes with a grand dance festival. It takes place at Pärnu Beach Stadium on Sunday. There, all 2000 participants will meet. They will pay tribute to the history of Estonian gymnastics and folk dance. They will also honor Anna Raudkats, who is celebrating her 140th birthday this year.
The festival is organized by the Estonian Gymnastics Federation and the Folk Dance and Folk Music Society. They hope that Võrafest will become a long-standing tradition.
