Aivar Voog says that the turnout in the current local elections is much higher than in 2021. He believes that voter turnout could be 60-64 percent across Estonia.
In Tallinn and across Estonia, these elections are similar to those in 2013 and 2009. In recent years, the turnout among voters of the second nationality in Tallinn has been low. This happened in 2017 and 2021.
Voog says that the paper ballot turnout shows that residents of Lasnamäe and people of the second nationality are more active. This indicates their greater interest in the elections.
Surveys show that the activity of people of the second nationality is higher than in 2021. At the beginning of September, activity was lower, but now it is again high. Voog believes that voter turnout could exceed 60 percent in Estonia.
Voog says that on Sunday, voter turnout could be very high. This is much higher than in 2021 and 2017. In 2009, there were 620,000 voters because the electorate was larger.
Voog clarifies that the activity of the second nationality is only visible in Tallinn. Ida-Viru County activity is the same as in previous years. There, the more active people are now even more passive.
On Friday, 25.3 percent of voters had cast their ballots.
