The Tallinn city government decided to dismiss Anton Karavajev, the director of Tondiraba hobby school. The director himself submitted a resignation application beforehand.
During the inspection, multiple problems were found at the hobby school. For example, teachers did not meet language requirements. Suspicious transactions were also made.
Tallinn deputy mayor Andrei Kante said the city received several complaints about the hobby school. That's why the inspection was conducted.
The inspection showed that the list of teachers did not match reality. Some people were on the list but did not actually work there. Kante said: "There was a discrepancy between documents and reality."
Another major problem was found: instruction was supposed to be in Estonian, but in reality it wasn't. This was a violation.
When Karavajev was informed of the inspection results, he submitted his resignation. The city dismissed him from his position.
Kante said this is unfortunate. The city wants law enforcement to further investigate the matter. He said: "We must learn from this so such things don't happen in the future."
