Eesti 200's Tartu mayoral candidate Kristina Kallas says that Tartu needs a large event hall. It would help the city's economy and bring more international visitors.
The current mayor Urmas Klaas (Reform Party) says that Tartu has land plans for the hall. But so far, no one has supported this idea. He believes that the Olympic committee's study could help.
Isamaa candidate Tõnis Lukas says that Tartu has other important projects, such as the renovation of schools and kindergartens. Therefore, they do not support the plan for a large hall at the moment.
The Social Democratic candidate Elo Kiivet thinks that the large hall is just an election promise. He asks why not build smaller sports halls that would also help adaptive sports.
The Center Party candidate Anneli Ott says that large projects are expensive and the city will have to maintain them later. Now is not a good time for such construction.
The EKRE candidate Merike Lumi says that her party does not support building a large hall in Tartu.
