Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that he wishes for Jonatan Vseviov to continue as Chancellor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Jonatan Vseviov has been serving as Chancellor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since February 8, 2021. Next year, he will complete five years in this position.
Tsahkna said that it is currently important for Estonia to maintain a firm stance. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has maintained this well under Vseviov's leadership.
Vseviov has helped Estonia achieve a greater role in diplomacy than its size would suggest. Tsahkna said that Vseviov's role has been very important.
Vseviov began working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2004. He worked in the policy planning department. Later, he worked at the Estonian Embassy in Washington.
In 2008, he moved to the Ministry of Defense. He was the head of the analysis bureau there. Later, he was the Undersecretary for Defense Planning. From 2016 to 2018, he served as Chancellor of the Ministry of Defense.
From 2018 to 2021, Vseviov was Estonia's Ambassador to the United States.
Jonatan Vseviov was born in 1981. He studied political science at the University of Tartu. He then studied security studies at Georgetown University in the USA.
