The Heritage Protection Board reviewed 133 architectural monuments of Jõgevamaa's manorial heritage.
Based on the assessment, it was recommended that protection should continue for 85 objects and state protection should be terminated for 48 objects.
Jõgevamaa was the first county where the Board conducted a manorial heritage review.
There are nearly 5,000 architectural monuments in Estonia, and manorial heritage accounts for more than half of them.
The Board offered advisory services to owners to help maintain protected buildings.
Some objects were listed arbitrarily, for example during the Soviet era.
The Board's recommendations are not yet final.
The results will be presented to the Jõgevamaa community before any final decision is made.
Assessors are not always in agreement, as was the case with Võisiku Manor.
Võisiku Manor is historically significant, but the building has been heavily modified.
The current proposal is to terminate state protection for buildings in this manor complex.
Manorial heritage assessments have also been conducted in Pärnumaa, Läänemaa, Hiiumaa and Saaremaa counties.
The Board plans to gradually review all listed manorial heritage buildings.
This project is resource and time-intensive.
The assessment process also involves archaeologists since manorial heritage isn't limited to buildings alone.
It took 10 months to assess manorial heritage in five counties.
The entire manorial heritage is expected to be reviewed and assessed by the end of 2028.
Manorial heritage assessment plans can be found on the Board's website.
The Jõgevamaa report will be presented on October 7 in Puurmani.
