MUBA is requesting €379,702 in additional funds from the ministry. This money would help cover the school's budget deficit.
Director Piret Rips said that the school has insufficient funds. One reason is the state budget cuts. These cuts amounted to about 11%. Additionally, teachers' minimum wages increased. The school has to pay for this increase itself.
The lack of funds makes the school's work more difficult. For example, the school needs to maintain its instruments and computers. It also has to meet occupational health requirements. All these things require money.
MUBA has tried to save money. They have reduced the number of staff and made the student dormitory fee-based. These changes will help save €162,333 this year.
Rips said the school has done everything possible. They cannot reduce costs further without compromising the quality of education. Major changes will only come next year.
The Ministry of Education has promised to help if the school provides a precise calculation. MUBA has now submitted this application.
